Registration Procedure For Students Applying for F-1 student visa From Abroad
Outside of the US:
If you would like to study full time in the US, then you should apply for a non-immigrant student (F-1) visa. A student visa is issued by the American Embassy in your home country. In order to apply for a student visa, you must have a USCIS Form I-20 issued by the school you would like to attend. OPMI Business School is authorized under federal law to admit non-immigrant F-1 students and can issue Form I-20. Please note that the students on a student visa are required by US immigration law to study in a full-time program of study with a minimum of 18 hours per week.
Note: All F-1 Students must complete their initial program that they registered for to be eligible for a transfer to another school.

- Step 1 – Initial Registration
- Fill out the application/registration form
- Register for the chosen program
- Choose your payment plan
- Step 2 – Make a payment according to the invoice we will send you for the following application expenses (all non-refundable fees):
- Registration fee – $100
- Processing fee – $450
- Step 3 – Submit the following necessary documents (must be in English)
- Copy of the first page of your international travel passport, valid for at least 6 months. You can send as scanned images to [email protected] or mail them to the school’s address (OPMI Business School, Inc., 116 John Street, Floor 2, New York, NY 10038) (Remember you will have to show the originals of these documents in a US consulate!):
- Copy of highest diploma or transcript
- Copies of statements of your financial support. You can either fax them, or send as scanned images to [email protected] or mail them to the school’s address. These documents are required by US Immigration and Naturalization Service from the school to issue a SEVIS Form I-20. You can use one of three possible ways of stating your financial support.
You may either:
Submit an original statement from your own bank account- no more than 90 days old: If you have an American resident or citizen as your sponsor, have him or her fill out affidavit of support (I-134 form) and submit his or her bank statement.- If you have a sponsor who resides in your country, have your sponsor write a sponsorship letter (in English) stating that he or she will cover all your tuition, and living. Also, submit copy of his/her bank statement. Please fill the affidavit form
- Step 4 – After having received these documents, we will send you a visa package with the following documents:
- I-20 student form
- Acceptance Letter from OPMI Business School
- Receipt of payment
- Instructions
- Step 5 – Pay your I-901 SEVIS feeI-901 SEVIS fee of $200 (this is a required fee by the US Department Homeland Security fee). Keep the SEVIS fee receipt. You must do this before going to your embassy interview. Make sure to bring SEVIS receipt with you to the interview. Please find the instruction about this fee on this link (SEVIS FEE INSTRUCTIONS)
- Step 6 – Visa Interview
- Step 7 – Start planning your Travel to US once your F-1 student visa is approved, come to the U.S. Please note that you will not be allowed by Immigration to enter the U.S. anytime earlier than 30 days before your classes start.
- Step 8 – Report to School Report to OPMI Business School no later than 3 days after your arrival to complete registration. Remember to bring your passport, I-94 and I-20 when reporting to our school.
Schedule an appointment for the placement test (for ESL students) and attend our New Student Orientation. - Step 9- Start Classes at OPMI Business School. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact our Admissions Officer assigned to you.
